Sodium Ferrocyanide, commonly known as yellow prussiate of soda or tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate, is a chemical compound that is produced when Hydrogen Ferrocyanide and Sodium Hydroxide are combined, existing in the form of yellow semi-transparent crystals.
We supply Sodium Ferrocyanide in both technical grade and food grade, packed into 25kg bags or 1000kg bulk bags. We also supply a Sodium Ferrocyanide 10% solution in 1000 Litre IBCs and bulk tankers. Using our blending facilities we are also able to dilute Sodium Ferrocyanide to other strengths to meet our customer’s requirements.
Applications
Sodium Ferrocyanide is a chemical additive known as E 535. It is commonly added to both road salt and table salt as an anti caking agent to prevent clumping and to allow it to be as free flowing as possible when being mixed or poured.
When combined with iron, Sodium Ferrocyanide converts to a deep blue pigment, the main component of Prussian Blue which is used for the manufacture of inks and paints, and bluing in the laundry and dyeing industry. Sodium Ferrocyanide can also be used to produce Sodium Ferricyanide which is the Red Prussiate of soda.
Other applications of Sodium Ferrocyanide include bleaching, toning and fixing within photography and also within the petroleum industry for the removal of mercaptans.
